Hello Pulverturm,
tell us what you would like to talk about! Unfortunately I´m quiet unimaginative...

The only thing that I could write is that I´m going to read Harry Potter 7 in English. I hope I will understand it because I read the other volumes in German. So I´m a bit excited.

Until now I have read:
Cecilia Ahern - "Where rainbows end", "Thank you for your memories"
Paolo Coelho - "Veronica decides to die"
I think there was another one but at the moment I cannot remember which one...

So what do you all read referring to English books? :D

Hello Aura,

I can tell something. Many weeks ago I was to start a day trip into switzerland and was waiting that the ferry is drive into switzerland.
I was waited and than a man came into my near and I asked him if he is driving with that ferry too. (I have spooken that in german) Than he answered me and I heard that he spoke in english.
I tried to speak with him in english and I think he have understood me. My english wasn't and isn't so perfect but for a little speak I hope this was great. A nice talk in english. Not everyday I have this. This is real.

I have nice talks in English every day. But perhaps that's because of the fact that I'm in England :D. It's strange because the shop assistants always call you "love" or "darling" or "chick" (that's TRUE! :D).
Over the weekend I read "A Christmal Carol" by Charles Dickens and it's great. At the moment I'm reading the new Dan Brown. that's also quite good but it always confuses me with its American orthography :D

Where exactlay are you there and why?

By the way: It just came into my mind that I also read "Grimms' Fairy Tales" in English. And I noticed that most of these fairy tales I didn´t know... But besides that it was quiet good to understand.

And referring to English talks: As I still lived in Potsdam I was often asked by tourists where they could find Sanssouci or other places. Mostly I stared at them - stunned... It lasts a few minutes before I could answer - spluttering... I won´t mention that I was in the advanced English course at school... How embarrassing!
But nevertheless I was sad that this didn´t happen often enough. I didn´t become more self-confident in front of an English speaking person...unfortunately...

Hey Aura!
I'm a teaching assistant in Caistor in Lincolnshire. I work in a Grammar School and teach German to children between 13 and 18 years of age. It really is fun. And its so great that I'm very close to the sea, I love that. The climate seems to be great for my skin because I only have a few patches of eczema here and there, but it's not all over my body and - even more important - not at all in my face

.
I work with nice colleagues and my pupils are also really, really nice. At least most of them

. Today I'll teach a year 7 group the time (year 7 here is like year 5 in Germany, so they are 10 or 11), then I'll talk to them about school in Germany and then about Christmas in Germany. their teacher says they're very noisy but I'll make them move a bit when we'll be revising the numbers

Oh, a German teacher in England! My mother is an English teacher in Germany :D
Caistor... Never heard of it before... I have looked it up in the world wide web. Now I know WHERE it is but not HOW it is.
Please tell us something about this place!
You mentioned the sea - I would like to live near the sea, too, as soon as I am ready with my education. The sea is something for your soul!
You say it has helped your skin - I hope that this will happen to me as well. My hands, face and décolleté are driving me crazy!!!
Besides that - and coming back to the English language - I want to go to Ireland some day. Just for holiday. My (real) name is an Irish one and there is a place in Ireland that is named the same. To visit this pace is one of my dreams... But I need some money and time for this...
So you are a connection to "an emerald isle" (Many people call England or Scotland "the Emerald Isle", too - don´t they? kind of strange but I have heard it quite often recently... I have thought that just Ireland is THE Emerald Isle...) :?

Caistor is basically small :D. It's how you would imagine a typical English village. But people here pretend it's a town :D. People here are very nice but you meet your pupils everywhere which is sometimes strange ( I saw Miss at pizza Uno yesterday!) :D.

That reminds me of the "town" where I live now because it´s more a village, too. :D
But I love to live here. It´s calm but beautiful. Half-timber houses, two lakes and nature in general everywhere. But many shops (well... many supermarkets better to say) ;)

@ sarah: how have your holidays been? for me the snow has been the best ;) and of course meeting my whole family.
now starts reality again :( learning, learning, learning...
but on saturday i can celebrate my 20th birthday and on sunday "my" orchestra has the anual concert for all family members. i am looking forward to these happenings! :D

In less than 4 weeks I will be in Ireland!
2 weeks in which I have the chance to speak English!!!
I´m so excited!
Now there is no excuse anymore to ignore the english novels in my shelf - I´m sure that I need some practise before going on my trip.
Does anybody know whether there are any complications with taking the creams for the atopic eczema with me (I will go by plane)?

If you put them into your suitcase, you won't have any problems. But you can't take them in your handluggage because of the 100 ml-rule. So you have to spend some hours without your creams, but I suppose that'll be okay.

If your tubes don't have more than 100ml, of course you can take them into the plane! 100ml should be enough for a flight to Ireland

Well, that depends on the size of the creams... I only thought about my own ones, and they are always bigger....

Thanks for your answers.
My cream tubes are bigger, too. But isn´t it possible to fill them into other (smaller) pots? Or would they become suspicious of self lettered pots at the airport then?
Otherwise I need to take another cream that I could get as a trial pack. You are right by saying that a flight to Ireland wouldn´t last so long. Trial packs could be enough, I guess.

Well, usually they don't say anything if you put it into smaller tubes or something like that. You just have to seal them in a ziploc bag. I went to England without my creams and it was okay.

Just dropping by and saying "Hello" from Scotland, where I live now for a couple of month and will continue to live for some month to come.
Skin is fine and feeling well over here. No trouble with food or things like this.
Just enjoying myself!
