@Sarah: And where did you spend it? When I’m looking at the books my pupils use, I see the same topics that I had… So, I don’t think it’s going to change… Just the pictures look nicer somehow.
@Aura: It’s good to know that these topics don’t change over the years… I didn’t get mark one, but two was enough 😉 Pronounciation is something you can just learn by talking. Have you ever been abroad in an English speaking country? It’s worth it. For experience and language.
Hey Aura!
Actually it’s a typical problem of all pupils I think that they can tell you everything about poems and so on, but they wouldn’t survive in an English speaking country. Which I find really sad. It was the same situation for me when I finished school. Did you write your Abitur in English?
That sounds great! Who helped you and what did you read?
I did my sister’s homework for school during the weekend. It was really easy, but as she was ill she couldn’t do it on her own.
I just can support the words of Sarah. And maybe you can write in English over here again. I won’t say anything about your mistakes.
By the way… How comes that when I am walking around town people who ask me about a way are always wondering that I am able and do explain it in English if they ask for? I don’t get it…
I don’t want to sound mean, but do you know what you remind me of, Pulverturm? You remind me of my schoolkids I had to and will teach! They have the same troubles speaking and writing English as you have.
@Sarah: Okay, now I think it IS funny *lol* Plus now I understand why people were laughing at me the the 2 I was talking to – in sign language and writing *smile*
*knuddelt Helene auch mal ganz dolle* Ich kenn das… Derzeitig muss ich 4 Hausarbeiten gleichzeitig schreiben und bei allen wächst der Druck. Das arbeitet sich richtig gut *seufz*
@Sarah: For whom would it be funny? I think it would be hard for both.
@Pulverturm: How comes they asked you? I really do hope they understood you, because actually I needed to read your post twice in order to understand it. Sorry for that…
Volkshochschulen! That’s it! I agree with Sarah, every small town has them, so yours might too. That would be a great chance for you. Yeah, but – to the story with your brother – it is your brother (!), I wouldn’t learn with my sister either even if we were at the same age. Plus, a language needs to be spoken. You can’t be in Britain or the US or what have you and not speak a word and always write everything down. This would be great trouble.
I’m sorry, but I didn’t have the time to look at your link. I don’t know the book, but it seems to be pretty good. But actually no book in the world can teach you how to talk. Just check out all the big towns around your place of living – there will be one. I don’t understand you last few sentences about you and your brother. Please be so kind to explain it again.
It would be nice if you could just post the ISBN-number. I’ll find it then. Learning alone at home seems quite sad to me. Because you have nobody to talk to. You should really search for a group. Do you have a university near your place of living?
Ist also keine Fremdsprache. Obwohl… wenn man sich die ganzen Dialekte dort ansieht… -
